Khana

The workshop crew threw a big Khana (or feast) in honor of my dad’s return to visit.  This is an all-morning ordeal and what a day it was!  We hung out all day in order to participate in every single part of the feast.  The kids met the goats before the kill, watched the kill and disemboweling, the other food prep, and the cooking.  It was so fun (and educational!) and they enjoyed almost every part of it!  The food was EXTRA spicy (just to my liking but very difficult for my family and friends).  Most of the full-timers joined us for the meal and we enjoyed a special day of fellowship with our Bengali brothers and sisters.
Josiah chatting it up with what was soon to be his dinner.
Kenlee & Allison look on while the goat is being skinned.
(This is after they watched the goats necks being slit…but I’ll save you the graphic photos Mike took of that.)
The potatoes, onions, and other veggies being prepared.
This guy was preparing all the spices – grinding them by hand.
The goat curry.
This is the cook who prepared the meal.
The delicious final product.
Dad and his boys.
One pot holds curry (goat), one hold rice pudding, and one holds the rice.
Grandpa had the idea to have a little fun with our picture taking today and
Ethan was more than willing to play the part of dinner.
