True to Bengali time-frames, the bus was over 4 hours late in picking us up from the Dhaka guest house for our journey to Malumghat. Those of you who have been here know that this trip will be true test of our character and level of flexibility and patience. I must tell you that the gang passed with flying colors! The children started dropping like flies as we waited at the Guest House. Josiah and Bryn resisted a long time but as you can see, finally gave in. Kenlee is the only one of us who did not sleep until she was on the bus. That turned out to her advantage because she slept 7 of the 10 hours on the bus!
When you get into a bus in Bangladesh you are truly taking your life and placing it into the hands of a crazy man. You will play chicken with vehicles as big as yours on a one lane road at speeds up to 65 miles an hour. Your heart will never leave your throat. Blake and Mike sat up front behind the driver, watching and exclaiming during the entire overnight trip. The women and children were further back and able to sleep some because we took Dramamine before we left. This ride was one of a lifetime and we are all so thankful that we survived to tell about it.
