The Durrill family is off to Uganda! It has been a whirlwind three weeks as we've prepared but we are finally at the airport and ready to go. Our plane has been delayed an hour so we are here extra early and decided to get our blog posts going, although we aren't sure how often we will have an internet connection.
We are traveling first to London where we will meet up with a few others who are on the team. From there we fly to Entebbe, Uganda. Our trip will include a day or two in Kampala, then we'll travel by van or bus up to Restore International Academy in Gulu and hang out with the students there. Finally we will cap the trip off with a day safari (both the adults and the kids can't wait!).
This all started when we read Bob Goff's book Love Does about a month ago. It moved us so much we started telling everyone about it. A week or so after finishing the book we were invited to join Bob and take this trip! Bob is all about the word "whimsy" and boy -- do we ever feel like we are doing one of the most whimsical things we've ever done! Bob's book really is just a simple story-telling book that brings home the simplicity of doing life with one another and finding the presence of Jesus in our lives each step of the way.
We appreciate your prayers over the next 10 days as we travel. We desire to keep our hearts and minds open and alert for all that God has for us. We especially ask for good health and safety. Yesterday Morgan cut her toe and ripped the toenail completely off so she is struggling with pain as she walks. Please pray that it feels better quickly and that we can do all that is necessary to keep it clean and free of infection. Other than that, our biggest requests are that God will continue to impact our kids' lives with the greatness and bigness of who He is and that they will feel loved personally by Him along the way.
